Autumn/winter travel destinations

Winter travel destinations

With the longer evenings, summer might feel like a long time ago. We've handpicked the most stylish places to travel to this winter, and even found some late summer heat.

Undercover Copenhagen

Copenhagen is a scene-stealer. Forget The Killing, this Danish city boasts incredible restaurants and chic and stylish living.

From quirky off beat cafes through to fine dining, Copenhagen is fast becoming one of Europe's top food destinations with something for all budgets.

To really live in this town you need to cycle. During the day head to Nørrebro, Copenhagen's answer to Hoxton where you can browse bric-a-brac and refresh in a local café. For night-life Vesterbro, the hipster district, is buzzing with bars, clubs and music venues. Don't forget to pack a trademark 'Killing' jumper.

The perfect Greek paradise

Glorious Santorini is the jewel in the Greek islands' crown. Famed for its sensational sunsets and clear azure waters, even travelling here on a budget feels glamorous.

Bar hoppers and foodies will be at home here as 'just landed' fish is cooked and served fresh, and the local wine flows freely.

Top tip: Book a hotel with a view facing the volcanic bay (the caldera), one of the most awe-inspiring views on our planet.

Cosy Cotswolds

The Cotswolds, apart from being one of the prettiest areas in the UK, is packed with luxury hotels, lovely pubs and numerous spas. It's perfect for that romantic break or a getaway with your besties.

Admire the autumn leaves on a bracing walk and then curl up by the fire in a luxury hotel for tea and cakes. With many of London's partying fraternity decamping for weekend breaks, an evening in one of the lively pubs can be a riotous affair.

Boston you're my home

If you fancy heading further afield there is only one place to head in the autumn - Boston. Famed for its spectacular autumn leaves, a visit at this time of the year is truly a trip of a lifetime.

Days are still sunny and warm and the nights wonderfully crisp. Photographs just don't do justice to the magnificent golds, reds and fiery yellow leaves of the maple tree - go and see it for yourself.
