Can you judge a girl by her car?

Your mum probably told you not to judge a book by its cover, but did she ever tell you not to judge a person by the car they drive?

It's hard not to form an opinion about someone based on their choice of vehicle, and for some, it can even influence how attractive they find someone.

According to a 2014 survey of 1,993 people, carried out by vouchercloud.com, 57% of respondents think the most important factor in judging attractiveness is the model of car a person drives.

Some even use this information to decide whether they should start a relationship with someone!

We were a little perplexed by this news, with members of the Diamond team being proud owners of Fiat 500s, Minis and Hyundai i10s, to name but a few, has our choice of motors been revealing more about us than we realised?

Intrigued, we decided to do some digging to find out whether your age, relationship status, if you have kids and even your horoscope says anything about your choice of car and driving style.

Single girls don't care about size

When it comes to single ladies it seems bigger isn't always better with the majority of our Diamond girls aged 17-25 opting to keep things compact.

For this group it's smaller cars, mostly hatchbacks and petrol models which dominate the top 20 with Ford KAs and Fiat 500s littering the list.

The number one choice for our singletons is the Fiat 500 Colour Therapy, which means your 'it's complicated' Facebook status may be being undone on your daily commute.

Hundreds and hundreds of Fiat 500s

And it seems Fiat 500s remain a popular choice for women of all ages, with and without kids.

Children tend to come with lots of accessories so you'd think a spacious family car would be in order, not so if Diamond's customers are anything to go by. Once again the Fiat 500 Colour Therapy comes out on top with Diamond mums seven times as likely as the rest of our customers to own one.

So, if you thought Fiat 500 owners were all teenage girls and most likely to be spotted in a sixth form college car park, think again as the Fiat 500 Lounge features in the top five for married mums aged over 46.

Baby carrier

Ever wondered what kind of car you're most likely to spot a baby on board sticker in? Keep your eyes peeled for 4x4s, the Ford Galaxy, Volvos or the Nissan Qashqai, as they're pretty popular with the parents insured with Diamond.

Married mums in their mid to late 30s are most likely to be spotted driving their little ones around in a Ford S-Max Titanium TDCI as it tops the list for the 36 to 45-year-olds.

While a daytrip with married mums aged 17-25 could mean a journey in a Vauxhall Zafira Life 16v or a Renault Megane Dynamique VVT, which are first and second in our list respectively.

For dads in the 36 to 45 age group, the Audi A6 S Line TDI is the number one choice for transporting their little ones.

Superstars

For any avid horoscope readers out there who've ever wondered whether the fact Mars was in Taurus the day you were born has any influence over you as a driver, well the answer is probably no but we had a look into it for you anyway.

When looking at the types of claims made by our Diamond girls it seems Virgos and Aries are more likely than any other signs to make claims classed as 'other', meaning they don't fall into any of our standard categories.

While fire sign Sagittarians have a higher claims percentage for claims relating to...wait for it, fires. Is it a spooky, star sign-related link between all Sagittarius ladies or straight up coincidence?

Well, we know what we think but you can make up your own minds on that one.

Does any of this ring true with you, are women all over the UK itching to get their hands on a Fiat 500 or would you rather break the mould and buy a BMW?
