Whether you like to jive, bop or boogie, if you're a
woman the chances are 'Dancing Queen' is the song most likely to get you up and dancing round your handbag, according to a
new poll to find out the ultimate handbag hit.
Women's car insurance specialist, Diamond asked over a
thousand women to vote for their ultimate handbag hit and has compiled a top ten of songs guaranteed to get the girls up and
dancing, with Abba's 'Dancing Queen' taking the top spot.
The Swedish supergroup's song was far and
away the most popular with the ladies, beating 'It's Raining Men' by The Weathergirls into second place and Gloria
Gaynor's 'I Will Survive' into third.
Musicals were a source of several
hits in the top ten, including 'Summer Nights' from Grease and 'The Time of my Life' from Dirty
Dancing. But there were also a few modern mixes in there, including 'Don't Cha' from the Pussycat Dolls and
'Pokerface' by Lady Gaga.

Diamond's managing director, Sian Lewis said, “Most women love to
dance with their friends and we all have particular favourites, myself included. Dancing Queen is a great handbag hit and
always gets me out of my seat and enjoying a dance with my female friends.”
Diamond's survey also
found women far preferred to dance with their female friends than their partner – perhaps an indictment of the dancing
skills of British men. Close to half of the women surveyed (48%) said they'd prefer to dance with their female friends
compared to just over a third of women (36%) who said they'd prefer to dance with their partner.
But
women don't just enjoy going out – 29% of respondents said they had a girls' night in at least once a month, with the
most popular way to spend nights in being girly films and popcorn or cocktails and nibbles.
