An after school club gets active thanks to a local
insurer.
Children attending Sketty After School Club received a cash donation from Swansea based insurer Diamond,
for new play equipment.
Diamond, part of the Admiral Group, specialises in car insurance for women. The money
comes from a fund set up by its chief executive officer, Henry Engelhardt, for staff involved with local organisations and
charities.
Lorna Connelly, operations manager for Diamond Claims, has two sons Alex and Jack, who go to the after
school club three times a week. They have been attending the club since they joined Sketty Primary School in 2001.
Sketty After School Club is affiliated to Sketty Primary School, and was set up in 1997.
22 children aged
between 4 and 11 attend each weekday from 3.20 - 6pm. They take part in a range of activities including sport, educational
games, and arts and crafts.
The money from Diamond was used to buy a giant play parachute for team games, which
can be played indoors or outside.
Helen Reeves, who runs Sketty After School Club, said, "Our new parachute
is a great success with the children, and they are really enjoying using it."
