What women want for Christmas

Forget jewellery or chocolate, most women dream of a sleek and shiny sports car for Christmas.

Diamond, a direct motor insurer specialising in car insurance for women, surveyed their female customers for their fantasy car this Christmas.

The results show that with 20% of the vote, most women would like to wake up to a new convertible BMW on Christmas morning. The Audi TT came in second with 13%, followed by the Porsche 911 at 12%. In fourth place was a Mercedes, and fifth the new Ford Fiesta.

Diamond checked their records, and found that in reality most of their female customers drive a Ford Fiesta, followed by a Volkswagen Golf and a Ford Escort.

Sian Lewis, managing director at Diamond, said, "I think our survey proves that women fantasise about cars just as much as men do. Mind you who wouldn't choose to drive around in a BMW? It's just a shame it won't fit into the average Christmas stocking!
