Put a spring in your step with this season's hottest trends

With spring here it's the perfect excuse to overhaul your wardrobe (not that we need an excuse). Take your pick from any of our high street favourites below to make sure you're leading the way in the fashion-stakes this season.

1. Mellow yellow

Mellow yellow Mellow yellow

Yellow is a hot trend for spring, particularly when it comes to coats, and there is a shade to suit all skin tones - yay! Try a light, oversized coat, like the one pictured, to take you through spring. We're also big fans of the banana yellow jeans hitting the shops this spring.

2. Mules

Mules Mules

Yep, they're back. Once a mum's staple, now this season's hot trend. But fear not, the humble mule has had a makeover and there are loads of different styles to choose from - open toe, closed toe, wedge, flat or heeled. Rock your mules with ripped jeans and a sharp shirt.

3. Matchy matchy

Matchy matchy Matchy matchy

Don't be afraid of this trend - grab that matching top and skirt and embrace matchy matchy! Go for pale floral prints to ease you in and then work your way up to bold prints like the one pictured. And whatever your preference - skirts or trousers - anything goes so give it a whirl.

4. Pastels

Pastels Pastels

They've been around for a while now and show no sign of being relegated to the back of the wardrobe. There are some beautiful pieces on the high street in a range of delicious bubblegum colours, and the soft hues are perfect to mix and match. If you want to beef up your girly look then add some bold statement jewellery.

5. Floral

Floral Floral

Floral prints are always on the high street come rain or shine, but they really come into their own in spring. And this season, floral is going big. From dresses to shoes, bags to trousers, the shops are awash with floral - and just in time for wedding season. Rather than opting for the normal dress, why not stand out from the crowd and choose a bold, floral print tailored trouser - a hot trend this season.

6. Monochrome

Here's another trend that shows no sign of going away and we're really glad - we love monochrome! And with Kate Middleton stepping out in a Breton top on tour last week, the fashion staple is only going to grow in popularity. We love the look in this picture - stripes galore! It's a classic look that never gets tired.

7. Slogans

Slogans Slogans

Wear your heart on your sleeve, or your chest, with another of this season's must-have buys - slogan tops. Whether you're feeling happy, sad, loved-up or furious with the world, you'll find a T-shirt to express your mood. There are some bargains on the high street, just have a browse and let your mood dictate your purchase!

8. Satchels

Satchels Satchels

The old school bag is back in style, but it's had a fashionable helping hand and now comes in any colour you can imagine. Forget musty old brown book bags and say hello to colourful arm candy - and they come big so you can fit in all your essentials, and non-essentials. Because let's face it, your bag just isn't big enough if your arm's not aching after an hour.

9. Bold prints

There's no rule when it comes to bold prints and, importantly, they don't have to match. Clashing is OK, even encouraged. Stand-out from the crowd in your stunning print pieces - tops, skirts, trousers or shoes - there's a print for everyone. We love the pairing of the skirt and top in this photo - add a chunky necklace or light-catching earrings to complete your look.

10. Cullotes

Cullotes Cullotes

Another come back king, the cullote. Not quite a skirt, not quite shorts - they're a mixture of both, the big sister to the skort. They hang like a skirt with added elegance and a floating form. You can choose bright prints or block colours, tailored or floaty, long or short. Try your cullotes with girlie ankle socks and pretty sandals or flatforms.
